Billerica Police Proud to be Featured in Video Regarding the Importance of Co-Responding Mental Health Clinicians

Those of us at the Billerica Police Department are proud to be featured in a new video from the Massachusetts Chief of Police Association regarding the importance and impact of co-responding mental health clinicians.

Billerica Police have worked with co-responding mental health clinicians since 2016, and in doing so have seen the significant impact clinicians can have on the lives of those who face mental health challenges and substance use disorder.

Chief Roy Frost, Co-Responding Mental Health Clinician Melissa Cameron and Officer Shane Casey each spoke in the video about the importance and impact of this work in an effort to ensure continuing state support.

“There’s a component of mental health to almost every call that we deal with,” said Chief Frost. “We talk all the time about de-escalation in crisis, and that means bringing resources in. These clinicians are exactly the resource that we need.”
